Google to Shut Down Picasa and Focus on Google Photos

Google has announced that it will shut down Picasa and will redirect users to Google Photos for all their photo sharing needs. Google says all of the photos and videos from Picasa Web albums will be automatically available on Google Photos when users log in with their account. It means that the new Google Photos might just have all the features that were present in Picasa.

According to Google Photos Chief Anil Sabharwal, Google Photos will also have all the photos that a user had uploaded on the Picasa Online Web Albums. He also said that they apologize for any trouble that this changeover would cause. But He added that Google Photos is a new as well as a smarter product for the users.

The Picasa desktop app will continue to function, but after March 15th, you shouldn’t expect any more updates.
