A review on Samsung Galaxy Y

Samsung Galaxy Y is a new budget Android phone. I bought this phone today from Hafeez Center Lahore with Teletek warranty.

Display & Look

It has 3 inch display with 320 x 240 pixel screen. I will say, if you are paying for this phone, you are not paying for display. To be very honest, display can not be liked by those people who are avid smartphone users. The fonts looks bit fuzzy, they does not carry a smooth cool to eyes feeling. Phone is best fit in hand. Due to it’s chromed back you feel a grip on it. Very lightweight and looks stylish.

Responsiveness

The operational speed of this phone is good. But it lags a bit, if a lot of applications are opened in the backend and you are playing any game or watching a video on it.

Memory

180 MB internal phone memory is pretty low. I have experienced low phone memory message while installing apps on Samsung Galaxy Ace. The more apps you install on phone memory, the more your phone will respond slow. I bought this phone in Teletek warranty and they are giving 2GB memory card for free with it. So it depends upon your usage, you can extend it till 32GB.

Urdu language

It’s my biggest concern. Before unboxing the phone I was wondering whether Teletek has shipped this language or not. Because a friend bought Samsung Galaxy Ace under Mobo warranty and he does not have Urdu language. But Teletek did the good. It does has Urdu language. So you can send/read Urdu on it. I am not sure about Mobo, whether they are also giving Urdu language or not.

Software

Phone is running on latest build of Android (a mobile operating system by Google), Gingerbread 2.3.5. So with this phone you are using the latest.

Social Networking Synch

You can add your Twitter, Facebook, Gmail, MySpace account in it. And your existing contacts will be synched with social media websites.

Final words

Samsung Galaxy Y is leading in the good price category in Pakistan smartphone market, that has no other phone parallel. The phone is suitable for people who are coming to smartphone experience for first time. Best for young people, housewives, and average phone users.
